Puerto Maldonado is a city located in the Madre de Dios region in southeastern Peru. It is known as the “Biodiversity Capital” due to its location in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon.
Lake Sandoval is a freshwater lake located within the Tambopata National Reserve, about 10 km from Puerto Maldonado. It is one of the largest and most biodiverse lakes in the Peruvian Amazon.
Lake Sandoval is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna
Pick up at the airport or at the Puerto Maldonado bus terminal and transfer to the office for the corresponding registrations.
Then you will be transferred to the port of Capitanía, to board the boat for an hour, until you reach our lodge to have a welcome meeting, with a refreshing juice made from fruits from our region and to give you information and recommendations for your stay and itinerary of visits afterwards you will settle into your respective rooms.
At night we will go in search of white caimans which are usually found on sandbanks in the Madre de Dios River and it is necessary to bring a flashlight.
We will also be able to see the Capybara the largest rodent in the world which can weigh up to 60 kilos. Then we will return to the lodge for dinner and then rest.
After early breakfast will do a short boat ride to the entrance of the lake Sandoval,
after checking at the check point we will walk 3 kilometers (2 miles aprox.) to the Lake Sandoval (piranha habitat) one of the largest in the Tambopata National Reserve,
after the nice walk the guide will get a rowing boat where we will have our navigation on the lake to appreciate many different birds and monkeys Species (Hoatzin cormorant Jacanas, puma heron, eagles, howler monkey, squirrel monkey, black capuchin, tamarins and sloths).
Maybe we will meet with the family of giant river otters (almost two meters long) they are in danger of extinction and the largest alligator recorded over 4 meters long,
In the evening we will do a night walk where we can appreciate the diversity of insect, amphibians, reptiles and other nocturnal animals.

5.30 a.m. Morning in the jungle. The canopy Walk-Way, will let us to see the rainforest from a different perspective, at
about 30 meters high, the bridges will allow us to appreciate nature from a high altitude, we will have a panoramic view of the Rio Madre de Dios.
From platforms you can observe different species of birds such as
toucans, macaws.
Finally we will return to the lodge and then you will be transferred to the city of Puerto Maldonado or the airport or bus station.
